Classroom Thinktank to Present Creative Education Strategies at Korea’s Global Education Conference

It is a special honor for Classroom Thinktank to be invited to present its work at the 2025 International Teacher Education Conference (K-GEC) in Korea. The conference, hosted by the Korea National University of Education (KNUE), will take place on October 16 at the Cheonglam Art Hall in Sejong and will bring together leading voices from around the world to discuss AI-based future education and educational innovation.


The program features keynote contributions from outstanding international experts such as Professor Jan Lundell (University of Helsinki, Finland), Vice-Chancellor Susanne Yeung (Education University of Hong Kong), Dr. Kristóf Fenyvesi (University of Jyväskylä, Finland), and Charlotte Graham (Principal of Tangbala School, Sweden).


As part of this distinguished line-up, Leonard Sommer, co-founder of Classroom Thinktank, will contribute a keynote on creative education strategies for students, drawing on examples from global creative industries. The focus will be on how creativity and collective intelligence can empower learners in the age of AI, and how schools can nurture future competencies that go beyond technical skills.

“The invitation to Korea is a strong signal that creative education concepts resonate across borders,” says Leonard Sommer. “Classroom Thinktank is proud to contribute to the global dialogue on how AI and creativity together can shape the classrooms of tomorrow.”

The conference will be held in a hybrid format, combining on-site participation with simultaneous interpretation and online participation with AI-based real-time subtitle translation.


This recognition marks an important milestone for Classroom Thinktank as it continues to bring forward-thinking education strategies into international discussions and networks.

Korea National University of Education Hosts International Conference on AI-Based Future Education


A forum for discussion on global education innovation… Opening at Cheonglam Art Hall on October 16th

Sejong – Korea National University of Education (President Cha Woo-kyu) will host the "2025 International Teacher Education Conference (KNUE Global Education Conference: K-GEC)" at the Cheonglam Art Hall on Thursday, October 16. Under the theme of "AI-based Future Education and Educational Innovation," the conference will bring together domestic and international experts to discuss the future direction of classrooms and ways to strengthen teacher expertise.


The event will open with registration at 10:00 AM and a performance by the KNUE Philharmonic Orchestra. Following opening remarks by Park Mi-jung, Dean of the Educational Research Institute of Korea National University of Education, and welcoming remarks by President Cha Woo-kyu, the main event will begin. In the first session, Professor Jan Lundell of the University of Helsinki, Finland, will deliver the keynote address, "Systemic Transformation for Sustainable Teacher Education." Following this, Vice-Chancellor Susanne Yeung of the Education University of Hong Kong will present a lecture on the AI-based educational innovation ecosystem.


In the afternoon, Incheon Metropolitan City Superintendent of Education Doh Sung-hoon will deliver a keynote address titled "Read–Walk–Write in the AI Era," emphasizing the need for new learning approaches. Following this, a variety of research findings based on Korean education practices will be presented, including research on multi-grade classrooms and the role of digital policy tools. Professors Kim Hyun-wook and Kim Yong, along with other researchers from Korea National University of Education, will lead the presentations.

The final session will focus on strengthening the capabilities of future teachers and their educational expertise. Dr. Kristóf Fenyvesi of the University of Jyväskylä in Finland will present "The Infinite Potential and Sustainability of Education in the AI Era," while Charlotte Graham, principal of Tangbala School in Sweden, will present "Redefining Teacher Professionalism." Leonard Sommer, co-founder of FUTUROMUNDO in Germany, will present a creative education strategy for students, leveraging examples from global creative industries.


President Cha Woo-kyu said, “K-GEC is a new international education conference that Korea National University of Education created with a strong will to fulfill its role as a global leader in the field of education. This academic conference is not a one-time event, but an ongoing event that contains our aspirations to contribute to the development of education in Korea and around the world.” He added, “It will be a place to view the impact of AI-based future education on the global education field from various angles and to present a sustainable teacher education model. We look forward to the active participation of domestic and international education professionals and researchers.”
